Did you know? According to a 2024 report by the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction, the construction sector is responsible for over 37% of global energy-related CO₂ emissions. The urgent need for a shift toward eco friendly building materials has never been more critical. And leading that shift in India is none other than Architect Trupti Doshi of Auroma Architecture, based in Pondicherry.

The Power Of Purpose-Led Architecture

At Auroma Architecture, we don’t just design buildings. We craft living, breathing ecosystems. Every line drawn, every curve sculpted, is a mindful expression of sustainability. Trupti Doshi, our principal architect, believes in architecture that doesn’t just serve function, but elevates the human spirit. Her signature approach integrates eco friendly construction materials with ancient Indian wisdom, scientific rigor, and poetic design expression.

Why Choose Eco Friendly Building Materials?

Conventional construction has wreaked havoc on the environment—rampant sand mining, topsoil loss, carbon-heavy cement production. In contrast, eco friendly building materials help us reverse that damage. They reduce carbon footprint, require less embodied energy, and often utilize materials sourced directly from the site. Some of the most effective environmentally friendly building materials include:

  • Unfired Earth Blocks

  • Lime Plaster

  • Reclaimed Timber

  • Fly Ash Bricks

  • Compressed Stabilized Earth Blocks (CSEBs)

These eco building materials aren’t just environmentally sound—they are often more breathable, beautiful, and thermally comfortable than their industrial counterparts.

Our Approach: From Void to Vision

Our journey always begins with respect—for the land, for nature, and for people. Inspired by the moment when a young Trupti Doshi stood by the moonlit shores of Versova Beach and asked, "How does one create a world out of a void?", every project at Auroma is a continuation of that question—transformed into breathtaking, nature-embedded design.

Flagship Projects Using Eco Friendly Construction Materials

Sharanam Rural Development Centre

A globally acclaimed project built using eco friendly construction principles. Constructed entirely from unfired earth dug from its own rainwater harvesting pond, this center was recognized by the United Nations Environment Programme as a model for eco friendly construction practices. With over 450 local villagers trained in more than 20 sustainable techniques, this wasn’t just a building—it was a social transformation movement.

Here, eco building materials meet French-Tamil aesthetics. Featuring reclaimed wood, lime wash finishes, passive cooling, and integrated solar systems, this community exemplifies what modern eco friendly construction should aspire to be—holistic, humane, and harmonious.

Gratitude EcoVilla

Dubbed India’s first "House of Tomorrow", this home is a living lab of eco friendly construction materials, optimized for passive cooling, light balance, and acoustic excellence. It demonstrates the integration of performance with poetry.

Eco Friendly Construction Practices at Auroma Architecture

Our approach to eco friendly construction practices is system-wide:

  • Material authenticity: We avoid greenwashing. Instead, we use low-carbon, site-sourced, or reclaimed materials.

  • Thermal Comfort: Our walls breathe. Our roofs cool. Our facades invite breeze and filter light—minimizing dependence on artificial systems.

  • Water Wisdom: Rainwater harvesting, greywater recycling, and zero-waste landscaping are standard across projects.

  • Community Empowerment: We train locals in eco friendly construction skills, fostering employment and pride.

Why Now Is the Time for Construction Eco Revolution

With 22% of India’s annual CO₂ emissions attributed to the construction industry, we are at a pivotal moment. Choosing eco friendly building materials is no longer a trend—it is a responsibility. A building is not just a structure—it is a legacy. At Auroma Architecture, we see ourselves as custodians of that legacy.

What You Miss Without Architect Trupti Doshi

Choosing conventional design means missing out on a transformative journey—one that not only creates a structure but evokes a sense of belonging, healing, and higher purpose. Without Trupti Doshi’s leadership:

  • You risk using carbon-heavy, short-lifespan materials.

  • You miss out on indigenous wisdom made modern.

  • You lose the opportunity to inhabit a space that nurtures your well-being and the Earth.

Your home becomes a mother, your school a teacher, and your office a visionary entrepreneur. It’s time to turn construction eco into a conscious, creative force for good.
