The client Dr. Patne is a resident of Varanasi, a medical doctor and a professor at the prestigious Banaras Hindu University. He dreamt of a home suited to his taste and requirements. Integrating Art through Design & Science through Climate responsive strategies
CHALLENGE
Varanasi lies in the Composite zone with a warm and humid microclimate. Whilst discussing with the client, we realised what a wonderful opportunity this home would be to integrate art and science! Art in the form of Heritage Architecture and Science in the form of principles of wisdom from our ancient past in creating a home which would be thermally comfortable, all year around.
Integrating heritage features into the home as per client’s requirements
DESIGN
The design is the synthesis of these two aspects. It integrates the study of sun path, wind pattern, humidity levels, integrates measures which will keep the home cool and comfortable. At the same time, it integrates features of heritage architecture quintessential of Varanasi.
